JARO LOCAL

Jaro Local is an award winning singer/songwriter from the Solomon Islands, who is a fast rising star around the Pacific making waves internationally with his unique blend of modern island music.

It should be no surprise that Jaro Local is making music that is resonating with island music fans from all over the world, as he grew up watching and learning from one of the very best – his father Solomon Islands music legend ‘Sharzy’, one of the first artists whose music spread all across the South Pacific in the 90’s and early 2000’s.

Jaro began his own musical journey when he was a teenager by joining island urban boy band Dezine with his cousins Sean Rii and Santana. Dezine exploded onto the music scene with their smash hit ‘Gyal’ and continued to break new ground with their hits ‘Must Be Love’ and  ‘Lady Jazz’ cementing their status as one of the hottest island bands in the Pacific.

Keen to step out on his own and develop his own sound and identity, Jaro Local went solo in 2016 and has reached new musical heights – winning Best International Pacific Artist at the 2019 Pacific Music Awards in New Zealand – making history as the first ever artist from Melanesia to win an award in it’s 15 year history. He also won Rookie of the Year, Song of the Year and South Pacific Artist of the Year awards at the PNG FM Music Awards in 2017. He’s opened shows for Reggae Legends Big Mountain, performed in sold out tours across the South Pacific in PNG, Vanuatu, Fiji, New Caledonia, Samoa, Tonga, Kirribati and internationally in Australia and New Zealand. His hit song “Dakini Tangarareh” became a hit with over 4M+ streams on YouTube and recently was selected to be play listed on the no.1 most popular Hawaiian Reggae playlist on Spotify.

The future looks bright for Jaro Local and he is excited to take his music to further heights with the release of his new EP in 2019.
